Fire Safety Engineering

The development of the fire prevention design through fire safety engineering allows a quantitative assessment of the fire safety level with respect to predetermined performance thresholds, according to a performance-based approach, and with reference to credible fire scenarios.

The effect of each measurement is quantified and evaluated with the use of computational thermo-fluid dynamics models (CFD), implemented through the use of the FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) software which allows to estimate the evolution and fire effect solving numerically in simplified form the Navier-Stokes equations appropriate for low-speed thermal flows, with particular attention to the transport of smoke and heat and the diffusion of chemical species.

The F.S.E. allows you to design by going beyond the traditional prescriptive methods provided by the technical fire prevention rules and to apply in a flexible way the necessary preventive and protective measures.
